Material Overview

80CrV2 is a modern European spring steel widely used in knife making for its excellent toughness and shock resistance. The addition of chromium and vanadium improves wear resistance and grain refinement compared to simpler carbon steels like 1095. While it is not stainless and requires maintenance, it performs extremely well in abusive cutting tasks such as chopping, batoning, and heavy outdoor use. It is often considered one of the best value hard-use carbon steels.
