Material Overview

420C sits at the top of the 420 stainless steel family in terms of carbon content, giving it improved hardness and edge retention compared to 420A and 420J2. It remains a budget-friendly stainless steel, widely used in entry-level to mid-range knives. While it cannot compete with modern powder metallurgy steels, it provides a practical balance of corrosion resistance, ease of sharpening, and acceptable cutting performance for everyday tasks.
