材质综述

Aogami 1A is generally regarded as a premium selected grade of Aogami #1 produced from exceptionally clean material with tight quality control. Like standard Aogami #1, it is based on high-carbon Blue Paper Steel alloyed with tungsten and chromium to improve wear resistance and edge retention over Shirogami steels. The high carbon content allows extremely high hardness and remarkable edge stability. Due to its purity and fine grain structure, Aogami 1A is favored by traditional Japanese craftsmen seeking maximum cutting performance and refined sharpening characteristics. While it offers outstanding edge quality, it remains a reactive carbon steel that requires careful maintenance to prevent rust.

Comparable Steels:

  • Aogami 1A ≈ Aogami #1 in composition and performance

  • Aogami 1A > Aogami #2 in edge retention and hardness

  • Aogami 1A < Aogami Super in wear resistance

  • Aogami 1A > Shirogami #1 in edge retention due to tungsten and chromium additions

  • Aogami 1A > 52100 in hardness potential

  • Aogami 1A < CPM MagnaCut in corrosion resistance and overall versatility
