30Cr13 is a low-carbon martensitic stainless steel containing approximately 0.30% carbon and 13% chromium. It belongs to the same general family as 3Cr13, 420J2, and other entry-level stainless steels. The relatively low carbon content limits hardness and wear resistance but provides excellent corrosion resistance and toughness. Because it is inexpensive to manufacture and easy to machine, 30Cr13 is widely used in budget knives, kitchen utensils, medical instruments, and industrial cutting tools. While it lacks the cutting performance of modern knife steels, it remains a practical option where affordability and rust resistance are priorities.
