Material Overview

CPM M4 is a powder metallurgy high-speed tool steel produced by Crucible Industries. It is engineered for extreme toughness and wear resistance while maintaining very strong edge retention. Unlike stainless steels, it has low corrosion resistance and requires regular maintenance. However, its CPM structure ensures a fine and uniform carbide distribution, giving it superior performance consistency compared to conventional M4. It is widely regarded as one of the best “balanced extreme performance” tool steels for hard-use knives.
