Material Overview

AEB-L is a Swedish stainless steel developed by Uddeholm, originally engineered for razor blade applications. It is famous for its extremely fine grain structure, which allows it to take very sharp edges while maintaining outstanding toughness. Unlike many modern high-carbide steels, AEB-L prioritizes edge stability and ease of sharpening over extreme wear resistance. This makes it a favorite among custom knife makers and chefs who value clean cutting performance and durability over long edge retention.
