In line with the arrival of spring, Buck Knives has unveiled its March Buck of the Month — a limited run of the 838 Deploy automatic knife, designed to captivate enthusiasts with its unique style and enhanced performance.

The Deploy series, which first made its debut at Blade Show in June 2022, has since carved out a niche in the burgeoning "EDC automatic" category. These knives, including both the Mini and full-size models, are primarily designed to handle the everyday tasks traditionally managed by manual folding knives. Unlike many autos that are associated with specialized tactical uses, the Deploy series is optimized for everyday utility. The 838 Deploy is a single-action automatic, featuring a button on the show side for quick blade deployment.
A standout feature of this special edition is its eye-catching "shadow forest" camo anodization, a blend of deep yellows, browns, and blacks reminiscent of autumn leaves. Complementing the camo, the knife’s hardware and blade are finished in black, maintaining a sleek and cohesive look. The handle scale material remains durable aluminum, while the deep carry pocket clip, a hallmark of the Deploy line, continues to offer practical, low-profile carry.
What truly sets this version apart, however, is the upgraded MagnaCut steel blade. Known for its superior edge retention and resistance to corrosion, MagnaCut is a step up from the previous S35VN steel. Additionally, the blade is heat treated by Paul Bos, a renowned expert in the field, further elevating the blade’s performance. Whether slicing through everyday tasks or demanding challenges, the MagnaCut treatment promises exceptional results.
This exclusive Buck of the Month Deploy is available now, but with only 500 units in production, it’s a must-have for collectors and EDC enthusiasts alike.
