Tim Leatherman is the reason the modern multi-tool exists at all, and his company has spent the decades since defending that territory — including the smallest end of it. Few products in the category have lasted as long as the Micra. It turns 30 this year, and it has done so without a redesign, which is its own kind of endorsement.
The anniversary refresh leaves the tool itself alone. Nothing has changed in function; what Leatherman has added is a trio of new colorways — Ginger Peach, Cardamom and North Star — each wrapped in a Cerakote finish that adds abrasion resistance and durability to the 420 stainless steel frame underneath.
What you get on the inside is unchanged, and that is the point. The Micra has long been regarded as one of the best keychain-sized multi-tools ever built, and its 10-plus integrated tools still cover more ground than a tool this small has any right to:

For anyone who already carries a Micra, this is not a reason to replace it. The tool has not changed, and a 30-year-old design that still sells on its merits does not need defending. For everyone else, the new colorways simply make a known quantity easier to spot at the bottom of a pocket, and Cerakote should keep it looking presentable longer than bare stainless would. The broader significance is smaller than the milestone: Leatherman is marking three decades of its smallest icon with restraint rather than reinvention, and in a category crowded with novelty, that restraint reads as confidence.
