Bestech Knives has added the Duci, model BT2605G, to its BT series — a pocket-sized flipper designed by Ostap Hel that squeezes a surprising amount of function into 54 grams. The knife carries a 1.97-inch CPM-20CV blade with a black PVD finish, pink anodized titanium hardware, and a removable titanium ring that doubles as a bottle opener. It is listed at $199 on the Bestech web store, where it arrived as a new release in late October.

A Small Knife With Big Ideas

Ostap Hel has made a name for himself with geometric, purposeful designs, and the Duci follows that formula closely. At just 6.38 inches overall including the ring, and 4.41 inches closed, this is a knife built for the keyring-and-front-pocket crowd rather than the heavy-duty user. The flipper tab deploys the blade on ceramic ball bearings, and a frame lock secures it open — a locking system Hel has favored across many of his production collaborations.

The signature feature is the removable ring at the rear of the handle. Threaded onto the titanium frame, it lets the Duci hang from a keychain or lanyard, and its edge is shaped into a bottle opener. Bestech describes it as removable, so users who prefer a cleaner profile can take it off and carry the knife as a conventional small flipper. It is the kind of dual-purpose detail that suits a knife this size, where the line between tool and everyday accessory is intentionally blurred.

Aesthetically, the pink anodized titanium stands out. Paired with the black PVD blade, black PVD pivot and hardware, the result is a two-tone look that reads more jewelry than tactical. That is clearly the intent: the Duci is positioned as a refined micro EDC piece, not a work knife.

CPM-20CV at 61-62 HRC

CPM-20CV is one of the most corrosion-resistant premium powdered steels in mainstream production, with roughly 20 percent chromium and a dense vanadium carbide structure. At 61-62 HRC it offers excellent edge retention — noticeably longer than VG-10 or 14C28N — at the cost of a slower sharpening session, which is where the small 50-millimeter blade becomes an advantage. With so little steel behind the edge, touch-ups take minutes rather than an evening.

The trade-off worth mentioning is toughness. Ultra-hard 20CV in a thin small blade is best kept to opening boxes, cutting cord and food tasks rather than prying or twisting. For a knife whose ring screams keychain duty, that profile makes sense. The black PVD coating adds scratch concealment, though any coating on a hard steel will wear at the edge over time and reveal a bright line — a look many owners come to appreciate.

The titanium frame keeps the weight at just 54 grams, light enough to forget in a fifth pocket. Pink anodizing will fade unevenly with handling, which some will see as character and others as a drawback; either way, anodized color is a surface treatment, and Bestech has leaned into bold colors across the BT series before.

Market Position

At $199, the Duci occupies the premium micro-EDC niche alongside small titanium flippers from WE Knife, Kansept and Kizer's Ki-series. The 20CV blade and full titanium construction justify the price on materials alone, and Ostap Hel's name carries weight with collectors. Buyers wanting a more toolish small knife can find 14C28N models under $80, but few combine this steel grade, a bottle-opening ring and a designer pedigree in one package.

The Verdict

The Duci BT2605G is a confident, idiosyncratic little knife — exactly what an Ostap Hel collaboration should be. It will not replace a work folder, but as a fifth-pocket carry with a party trick built into its tail, it has few direct competitors. It is listed at $199 and in new-release stock on Bestech's site at the time of writing.
